Hamburg had been tacked 127 times between 1940 and the end of 1942. It's fourth on the overall list of targets in Germany behind Berlin, Dreesburg and Bocum. Portal says it's a moot point where the bombing produces a more desirable effect when directed toward anti Nazis than upon the faithful.
