The Effect of Religious Fundamentalism on Happiness
There is some evidence in the US, less so in other developed countries, that religious fundamentalists are a little bit happier. But when you use more objective criteria like prescriptions of antidepressants, turns out there's a pretty good correlation at the state level between level of religiosity and number of anti-depressant prescriptions. So I don't think the evidence is there to suggest that you actually get any psychological benefit from religion,. Any kind of social maybe, but like a happiness benefit, absolutely not.
