The authoritarian movement represents 10% of Americans, he says. The problem in our political system is that they are efficiently distributed throughout the states and have a disproportionate amount of control over what happens on Capitol Hill. Democrats tend to be clustered in very hyper blue cities,. Some of it is gerrymandering but also just the result of kind of natural sorting of Americans into urban and rural areas.
