How Do You Sustain Interest in a Conflict?
Last May, you quietly went off to Ukraine on your own to do some freelance supporting for a variety of places. I think when you step back and look at how wild that is, that it's hard to get people interested in one of the biggest events currently shaping our geopolitical landscape, that's kind of wild. Conflict has always interested me. The extreme experience of war brings out very interesting things in human beings, both the best and the worst. So I have always been interested in reporting on conflict for that reason. It's why I previously reported from Iraq. It'swhy I went to Ukraine in 2019.
