The Netanyahu Government's Judiciary Reforms Are Controversial
Netanyahu government is trying a complete overall of our judicial system. In Israel, like in most democracies and unlike in the UK, the Supreme Court can invalidate laws passed by the parliament. They do this very conservatively, but they do hold this power. The point of the Netanyahu government is changing this equation in a way that will make the executive branch and maybe parliament much more powerful than they are today. He's since apologised for those comments.
