"I've always been a person who believe that you need some kind of conflict in life Or life's not really worth living And this just sounds monstrous to me," Byrne says. The song was intended as a parody of David Bowie's Plastic Soul Ballads from earlier in the decade, he adds. "It does a very good job of both sounding like it doesn't belong on this record and also sounding like it absolutely belongs on this record", John writes.
