A lot of times we want to boil down our choices to a single number that abstracts from all the complexity, all the different aspects of a choice. We could just choose the one with the higher score. In basket ball, height is useful in choosing players relative to their wingspan. And yet, often as a starting place, i'll bold boil down the size of the house to a single numbers.
