How Literary Dialogue Differentiates From Speech

Julia Roberts: I don't feel like there's a difference between literary and not. The only difference in is that when I'm doing the deepest literary work, the best written work, often there is no absolute for how a line of dialogue can be said. It could mean anything. And that's a choice that the writer has made on the page to leave open for the reader's interpretation.
