As I see shamanism it is basically going back to the root of the word shaman, the one who sees. And that's the difference between a shaman and a priest. It's my understanding because a priest learns about his gods from teachings and a shaman has the right contact with the spirit power. So interestingly enough shamanism is basically the same all over the earth even though those people were on different continents and didn't have contact with each other.
