The Welfare State Is Important

People who do the right thing, people who behave responsibly, often feel like they get screwed. And this is one of my biggest long term concerns with basically the fabric of our civilization. I am convinced myself that one of the things that sews more discord at he heart of our society is the welfare state. The idea that the basic function of government is to take from some people and give to others puts a deep level of distrust in society.
