The Rapture of the Church

The rapture interpretation holds that Paul is describing a rapture event in which the elect will be snatched out of the world, taken up into the clouds to be with Christ. The Greek word here is apantasis - used to describe the going out of the people to meet a returning dignitary and welcome him back onto earth.
