The Inlay of a Box
Two panels, the inlay originally on wood which had decayed. Woolly t must have belonged to some sort of object which had been carried on the top of a pole as a standard. And i wonder myself whether what you're looking at is actually a series of panels which would havedeco ted a wall. We have other examples of art from the ancient sumer so we're talking about at least 1,000 years ago. The material ranges from the sorts of things found in temples, votiv figurines and images of both men and women made of stone.
