The Universal Agenda: A New Universal Agenda
The 17 sustainable development goals and 169 targets which we are announcing today demonstrate this scale and ambition of this new universal agenda. They seek to build on the Millennium Development Goals and complete what they did not achieve. It's a really tricky little document because that sounds great, but it never talks about individual rights. We only have rights in light of us being human. So what if we saw it as Marx saw humans? Humans are actually a collective under what's called the really should be described as being species being. We are individuals who live for the species. Now there's where a dialectical synthesis of individual and collective is needed.
