The Ethical Imperative of Product Addictions

With some products billions of people actually use, you are going to have a proportion of the population that does become addicted. We would never want to design for adiction. That's sodistic and unethical. But any product that is good that is engaging and is used by a sufficiently large number of people will attract some attics. The ethical rule here should be that if some one becomes addicted to your product, that's an unfortunate by product of creating a good product. Your ethical responsibility, however, is to do something about it if you can.
