Zimri: The Most Significant King in the Northern Kingdom

Omri was a significant, probably besides Jeroboam, the most significant king in the northern kingdom. He reigned at Tiersa, which was the old capital. Omri bought the hill of Samaria from a guy named Shemer for a couple of talents of silver. Then he fortified this hill and he called the name of the city that he built Samaria after the name of Shemer,. It's in, in Hebrew, the word play there is a little more obvious. So you can also talk about the region or the country of Samaria sometimes we refer to it as the Northern Kingdom.
