Mimetic Desire
Mimetic comes from the greek word that simply means to imitate. i was very inspired by the french thinker rene gerard, who started writing about mimetic desire in the late fifties and early sixties. We read under the surface to the intentions of other people, and we see what they want, we intuit what they want. And he calls this mometic desire. This leads to all kinds of problems between people, because it naturally leads to rivalry and to conflict,. especially when we don't know that we're caught up in it.
