The Architecture of the Mosque in Britain

The architecture of the mosque is a frame on which a composition of visual and historic references are assembled. I am saying that in this process of attempting to restore a historical continuity through architecture, something is fundamentally being lost. Just as there is silence between Sedera's mother and daughter, so there is a gap between the pre-colonial past and the diasporic present. However, reconstruction is not a straightforward remaking of that which has been lost but an act of reinvention. To me it is less that a past world is being restored but more than a new world is being made.
