The Threat of Christian Nationalism
When 1619 happened and the first slaves came to the American shores, this was a very concrete tangible symbol that sort of this new civilization being built on the eastern seaboard of the US. The spirit of 1619 is exploitation, inequality, conquest and oppression. When 1776 happened, 1776 established, had a different spirit. And so in my view, as we're talking about this American past, it's interesting to me how there was this 1619 project and then the Trump administration started a 1776 project. I'm thinking it's both as a matter of history and hopefully it's 1776 as a matterof destiny, if that makes sense.
