The Myth of the Gods
The gods in Homer are kind of a almost baroque fantasy of what it might be like in heaven. Edith Hamilton, a classicist from a hundred years ago or so, wrote that we should not confuse religion and mythology with the Greeks. So is that a helpful rule of thumb that this is kind of mythology but not necessarily religion? I think that's a good separation to make in this case.
