i imagine that was the normal way to write beck back then, even if you hated the person's guts. That was just a stock social phrase, sort of like saying, sincerely, or saying like, thanks or best even if you don't actually want to thank them. You know, there are these phrases that get interpreted as esphatic, p h, a, t, i, c, which is this sense of, like the literal meaning has sort of washed out through repeated use.
