In fact, when we've experimentally manipulated people to feel authentic pride, they actually respond by being nicer to other people who are different from them. It makes us want to take care of others and help them. And i think there's evolutionary reasons for this, right? Authentic pride evolved to help people attain prestige - a kind of high rank based on respect.
