Introduction
Bitcoin's energy use has been in the news for years. The entire Bitcoin network at its peak estimated consumption level uses less than 0.1% of the world's energy consumption. In the very long run, if Bitcoin is wildly successful and becomes a systemically important asset and payment system used by over a billion people, it should max out at just several tenths of 1% of global energy usage.
