The Mythology of Psychology and Anthropology
Joyce moves into the oriental sphere and the climaxes in Ulysses are all in terms of Hindu mythological images, Shiva, Shakkin, so forth. In Todhaman Tabu when he interprets the great mythological motifs of the Todhamanic and Tabu systems, he interprets these in terms of historical events that have been remembered and repressed. For Freud the contents of the unconscious once were conscious and can be made conscious through analysis and that's the cure. It simply follows the same root but drops the dimension of the unconscious in there.
