The Cuban Revolution and Fidel Castro

In September of 1960, Fidel Castro touched down in New York City. He was there to participate in the upcoming United Nations General Assembly. Secretary of State Christian Herder instructed him not to leave the island of Manhattan. The U.S. government was less than four months away from severing all diplomatic ties with Cuba.
