Early Medieval History - Is the Kingdom of Wessex the Driving Force?
As the medieval period moves on through, we tend to think of the southwest as predominantly being the Kingdom of Wessex. But what's really interesting is that if you even take stuff away from Dimonia, if you look at Wessex as it starts, they're not in the best position. They are surrounded by other English and Britannic polities. It's only a series of kings can make the decision to start pushing westwards - which gives them this powerful position for later invasions. And how does Dimonia react to that?
