Is There a Consciousness in Particles?

We do know that some of these objects seem to have consciousness. When we look at an object like a cat, now our image of the cat gives us less insight into the consciousness of the cat. And when we get down to things like particles and rocks, we're pretty convinced that we're dealing with something not only not conscious, but is not living at all. The idea in artificial intelligence is that maybe if we get the right kind of architecture, the right program, then we might also root up consciousness in a physical system.
