How Off-Stand Works and Why Teachers Are Upset
A silent walkout led by teachers from John Rankin School, close to Ruth Perry School. Head teacher announced plans to boycott an upcoming off-stead inspection. Inspection went ahead but the teachers wore black armbands while it took place. Some head teachers have removed references to off-stared from their websites. Three teaching unions have called for off-stead to pause inspections. Offstead boss Amanda Spielman says this would be against children's best interests. The organisation is likely to face more accusations of bureaucracy and heavy handedness over next few months.
