In the 1970s, a social psychologist named Henry Tyfell did experiments on intergroup discrimination. He would take people and he would separate them by totally arbitrary means. And in reality, it didn't matter. They just immediately assume the worst of these other people because they're not them. There's amazing research that shows that you can decide who is your in-group. You're always going to be tribalistic. That's what we are born with.
