Cholera - The Symptoms and Causes

Cholera is a bacterial infection. Its immediate cause is a comma shaped bacterium called vibrio choleri. The disease attacks the small intestine and leads to high volume diarrhoea and vomiting. It has been known as the blue death because, as dehydration becomes severe, human skin turns a bluish gray. In 18 17, when the first global cholera pandemic began, over a hundred thousand people died. Cholera riots broke out in russia, where many believed the czarist government was deliberately infecting people wit the disease. And there were rumors spread that hospitalized victims were being intentionally killed so that doctors could have corpses to dissect.
