The Importance of Fish Ladders
In 2022, the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission officially authorized the $450 million removal of four major dams along the Clameth River. To do this, rivers are pumped or diverted away from the dam. They use those tunnels again to drain the reservoir and then they create a new channel through which water can flow. And then once it's been drained or lowered to right level, they will steadily demolish the dam with hammers using excavators - depending on what material is less exciting than explosives.
