The book has such a strong anti-corporate bent because it's setting us up to be like you know everybody who uses this second life internet versus this giant company when the energy companies have already sucked the world dry. All their touch points are from these giant corporate mega franchises and then that there are there are lip service paid to literature but video games are the most important thing than movies, TV or music. I think it's kind of in a white otaku sort of fetishized way yeah if that makes any sense at all.
Put another quarter in the coin slot folks, because it's time to talk about Ernest Cline's Ready Player One. Topics include bad fan culture, the narrowness of the characters' "exhaustive" knowledge of 80s popular culture, and why the critical response to this book has shifted so much in just a few short years.
