Evolutionary Time

If you look at a plot of the diversity of life on Earth since the Burmian mass extinction, you'll see a pretty linear increase. It's very hard to imagine that this kind of radiation wouldn't have happened at some point. "It just seems like the opportunities were there and opportunities get exploited in evolutionary time"
