Roland Martin: The sort of deference to genes is really becoming untenable. How could you mesh the sort of HGT as a source of genetic variation with other buzzwords like phenotypic plasticity? He says he's not a genetic determinist and I don't think my book, I certainly hope it doesn't imply that determinism.
