The History of Non-Zero Some Social Dynamics
Emotions like gratitude and a lot of these feelings were designed to get our ancestors to play non-zero some games without necessarily thinking about it. That said, there are also emotions designed to support conflict in certain circumstances. And I think worse still is the fact that our environment now is so different from the environment that these emotions developed. They were designed as kind of proxy rational game theories in a certain sense. So we can't assume very confidently that they will act like that now in an environment so different from one they were designed for.
