China is now the principal rival competitor for the United States. India is the country that the U.S. has been courting trying to build up as a strategic partner against China in the Asia Pacific region. The pharma chemical industry in India is also very politically powerful in India just as it is in China, but even less regulated. For long time until really the last five years, India was essentially in full denial that its pharmaceutical industry was producing massive amount of synthetic drugs and precursor chemicals.
