The Relationship Between Bad Faith and Authenticity

The ways we look at and think about objects are unlimited, not contained within the object themselves. Sarge thinks that reflection is key, as long as it's honest. It's often said that authenticity might be equated with childhood. In Tolstoy's story, The Death of Ivan Illich, Illich realises he's been gradually becoming unhappy as he's grown older. Alice Miller has argued that many unhappy people didn't receive the parental support they needed growing up. According to Miller, the key to overcoming this is learning to express emotions and ideas without shame and guilt.
