How to Minimize Depression
The depressed patient gets involved in a lot of self-blame, even blaming yourself for things you weren't entirely responsible for. Emotional reasoning is a term that has to do with thinking your emotions somehow reflect reality. And internally directed shoulds create guilt and shame and depression; outwardly directed shoulds, which create anger.
