The New Law on Sacrilege Was Never Actually Applied

Law on sacrilege only applied to catholic churches. You could still do whatever you wanted to a protestant church, but it would be death for messing with the catholics. The law as written was never actually applied. No one was put to death for profaning the host. So the whole thing turned out to be a p r blunder that made a lot of people angry - even if nobody ever lost their heads for being in the holy water.
