The Importance of Early Warning Indicators

There are limits to what we can sustain. When you lose species, you're not going to get them back. If Carl Reaves continue to collapse, that's a fundamental change. As we lose biodiversity, we may be losing the adaptive capacity of systems. We have seen tipping points. But at the local level, plenty of communities have been left out historically because their local ecosystems have collapsed. And paleo historians have plenty of records of that happening.
