The Spatial Map Between the Eye and the Brain
In the eye you have everything lined up in a certain way, then all those cells are sending out their projections. And actually all of those partners are also lined up in the same way. So an image that you see in the outside world, all the points are represented next door to each other in the brain. The electrical signals coming in spatially preserve that map of the outside world.
