China's Grand Strategy in Taiwan
I don't think China can take over Taiwan right now. They only started building amphibious landing craft like new ones in the last couple of years. An amphibious assault on an island like Taiwan, that's like the PhD times two of military conflicts. And I just don't think they have the capability to do that. But my general analysis here is that China is thinking long term. It wants to integrate Taiwan eventually. It will wait until it's very clear that it can do so. The question is, are they willing to be patient? Are they willing to live up to this Chinese stereotype that their strategy operates in terms of decades rather than cycles in the U.S.
