Marks: Man doesn't realize that he is complete and in the position of creator, because it's a dialectical unfolding. How does he realize that? Through state and society. So man creates history, and by creating history, so creates himself. And that is the central theological claim of the theology, or the religion, of marxism. Our supreme court missed the opportunity several times through the twentieth century to name marxism a religion. I guess they didn't understand this. A lot of trouble would have been sidestepped had marxism been named a religion.
