We accuse God of being an evil father, far worse than any of us because I would come through for my child. But a true loving parent thinks not only of short-term hunger but also long-term need and tries to balance that as best as they can. The trials we face are not serpents and our unanswered prayers are not mere stones that Jesus is throwing at us. We must refuse to perceive the Lord's bread as some kind of stone. It isn't. In verse 12, he says, therefore all things whatsoever He would that men should do to you, do ye even so to them? There's the Matthew version of the golden rule. Do your very best by
