The Importance of Being Offensed
If you say that we might as well do something, it's just saying I don't have a better option or worse option. The meat is like the main part when you're talking about a sandwich. If you want to call someone very old or make fun of their age, you can say you are old as dirt. This implies they are extremely old, just like dirt. It's kind of showing your unenthusiastic. You're not thinking about the consequences.
