Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Hominy

Ayatollah Ali Hominy was appointed Iran's political and religious leader for life in 1989. He set about reworking the judicial system, changing it to strict implementation of Sharia law. The family protection law which authorized more equal marriage divorce and inheritance rights for women was repealed. An internal security group called the IRGC was created to defend the country's Islamic system and protect its leaders.
