The State of Israel Is a Paradise of Gay Rights, Right?
There's a sense of Israel is this wonderful little socialist paradise where you can go to kibbutz and listen to poems. The book by the end says we're in a different moment now where support for the Israeli project is shifting rapidly from the left or liberals if you want to use that language in America to the right. And it's more aligned these days with anti-immigrant rights and sort of militarism and the use of drones and this kind of thing. It's like a 180 degree turn, which is remarkable because I think it's dis-affiliated from its pool of support in the West and shifting to another area of support on the far right.
