The Magnetic Field of the Earth Changes With Time
In the liquid core of the earth, there are thought to be circulating electric currents. And they're thought to be what produce the m the magnetic field of the earth. So one thing that happens is the magnetic poles of the earth changes with time as those curents in the mantle shift around. You can see this by looking at rocks that were solidified at a certain time in history. The north magnetic pole was even in the southern hemisphere back in the day. It will move enough that you really have to pay attention to it.
