The end of the cold war and the collapse of the savi union was a boon for humankind in many ways, because whenever an authoritarian regime falls. But as you've just said, there something else has happened since then. Thog there has become almost like an ideological drive, a kind of zeal to say, we're really awful in the west. We have a terrible history. Our culture is not worth much at all. And i think that's probably a contributory factor to lots of the things that you write about in this book. There its in some of it is like a conversation with someone who might not share your views on everything, but you want to engage them in that kind
