Is Elmer a Great Imitator?

I loved Elmer as a friend, although I didn't trust him. He was one of my first gay friends and he often talked about the problems of being an older gay man. The tale in cold black and white did not flatter him sufficiently. So they have this really interesting, but I can see where he's crafted this great illusion of who he is to cut to the heart of it. It's painful.
