The Importance of Being an Outsider
Malinowski didn't want to just ensure that there would always be an anthropologist in all souls. He wants a big brash brazen applied close to administration, rippling with power, discipline and he thinks that he can kind of solve all the world's questions. The one is you say that he's most famous for in Britain in the 20s and 30s is not his Argonauts book. It's all of the stuff about sex and repression and the family. And that just hooks him into this world that I try to capture a bit of in one of the chapters of my book.
